Recently, there has been a (continued) spat of videos showing cops doing, lets be real: dumb ass things. Things that would get you fired right away from (almost) any other job on the face of the earth. Two things are immediately interesting to me about these recent videos. First is the silence from the 'Police Lives Matter' crowd and second, the fact that police brutality, overreach, lawbreaking, lack of common sense and general dumb ass-ery aren't contained to relations with just one skin color.

Left, the thriving Anheuser-Busch Brewery. Right, a quarter mile away, the empty Lemp Brewery
Over the weekend, my wife and I took a trip to St Louis. We haven't been there since our one year anniversary, when we stayed at nice AirBNB in Benton Park, across the street from Hemingway's, a wine bar. Since our anniversary is in November, we didn't do a lot of exploring in the actual Benton Park neighborhood, other than a trip to Mudhouse Coffee.

June is a better month for exploring new places, so we wandered around Benton Park. We discovered little signs detailing the history of the neighborhood, and followed them around, leading us to the old Lemp Brewery.

Does everyone remember the first Iron Man movie? You know, the best stand alone super hero movie outside of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight series until Captain America: The Winter Soldier?

Yeah, that Iron Man. In Act 1 of the movie, Tony Stark starts off as a full blown narcissist, only interested in his fame and money. Until he get's abducted and watches the American soldiers who were supposed to protect him get killed by his weapons, before a piece of shrapnel almost kills him, and leads him down the road to becoming Iron Man.

Act 2 sees Tony Stark, broken over what his creations have done to the world and to his countrymen, goes full Rambo on a city full of terrorists, destroying every weapon he can find with his name on it. No more selling to Peter to kill Paul for him. He's done with it.

Did you know the US Government is currently locked into this exact scenario? Although instead of selling guns to Peter to kill only Paul, Peter is gunning for Paul and the seller himself, the United States of America.

Hooray. Another political blog, that's just what we need. Pretty sure, if you're like me, that's exactly what you're thinking right now. More voices, more people shouting and clamoring to be heard. If you can bare with me for a couple of paragraphs, allow me to explain what and why this blog is and hopefully will become.

It starts with my wife. We tend to have a couple of political discussions each week. One of her common 'complaints' is that she does feel as if she has the energy to read up on things or dig into underlying issues surrounding a lot of what happens in politics today. This blog, at it's core, is about two things. Making politics easy for my wife, (Hi baby, you're on the internet!) and easy for other people.
